alice is an artist working in interior design and creating her own fashion lines. she specializes in developing complex print stories realized by applying the art of hand block printing to her clothes and interior soft furnishings. she combines her formidable skills to create a style that is uniquely her own.

she grew up in munich, germany. alongside other textile-related education, she trained in costume design at the residenz-theatre, studied interior architecture and design at chelsea college of art & design, and ran boutiques for her own label in london and munich. recently she opened a new flagship store in mallorca.

for the past fifteen years, her main focus lay in building, designing, renovating and restoring houses. her biggest interest and love were goa´s indo portuguese houses and mansions, which evolved during it’s colonial past. restoring them or building new, in a post-colonial style, she made herself a name as an interior designer with a specific design language and signature.

In her career as an international interior designer she has been involved in design projects in england, germany, india and spain.
her spaces and her fashion are contemporary, infinitely detailed, personal and soulful. an intriguing mix of influences and the absorption of experiences by having lived in many places. alice has the capacity to derive that which withstands time and to bring together  a mix spanning cultural influences, ethnic styles and class. wherever possible she collaborates with craftsmen using traditional techniques, for example seashell-plated doors or bespoke handmade cement tiles and floors. her block printed collections are all expressions of her rich design landscape.

relocating from goa to europe four years ago, after a lot of thought alice chose the island of mallorca as her new home and base for her work.

love the light, the mediterranean lifestyle and especially the mix of interesting people mallorca in particular attracts. I am enjoying meeting a tribe of free-spirited individuals with similar values. I lived in big cities for many years of my life, in london, new york, munich, mumbai - when I moved to goa I appreciated the calmer and more peaceful lifestyle, surrounded by my tropical gardens. mallorca lets me enjoy nature in a different way, more accessible through a less humid climate and the lack of poisonous snakes. as a bavarian girl the mountains are always closest to heart and my ‘work in progress’ mediterranean garden fills my being with joy”

not far from her finca, alice has opened a flagship store in the small and upand coming town of santa maria del cami, near palma. here youcan find a capsule collection of her block printed fashion and interior furnishings as well as hand made hats from spain and Venetian velvet slippers and other accessories. alice puts her energy and aesthetic sensitivity to work for a select clientele who appreciate her passion for what she does.

alice’s love affair with India began in her late twenties. field trips to remote villages to study local embroidery, tie dye and weaving techniques ignited her passion for textiles, especially the rich and sophisticated varieties found on the Indian subcontinent.

during her studies, she deepened in particular her knowledge of the mughal empire, which has influenced and permeated all aspects of architecture, art and design in northern india. hand painted and printed calicos, trade with europe through the east india company and how design language has inter played between places and time until today are her special interest. jaipur, the pink cityin rajasthan and an important hub for designers, became her creative home. jaipur has longstanding traditions in handmade arts and crafts, in particular hand block printing.

I was lucky enough to have worked and learned under master craftsmen, the best block printers and makers jaipur had to offer. now, the landscape has changed, the younger generations have a commercial mindset…are not interested in fine detailing and the effort and time it entails …”

the collection is niche, these are collector’s items - pieces to become one's best friend, proudly and playfully owned and worn for years. if you combine them with imagination and tweak them differently, they have the capacity to seek attention in a street cafe in paris, at a wedding in the countryside, or any informal or formal occasion in your daily life”
